With spring soon to arrive, DAHA’s evening musicale offers a special program fusing Antonín Dvořák musical gems, Czech and American poetry, and inspirational dance. Highlights include the seasoned ArtsAhimsa musicians – in their tenth anniversary presentation at Bohemian National Hall – and a reading of verses by Czech Nobel Prize Laureate Jaroslav Seifert, paired with nature-inspired musings by rising young poets from the Birch Wathen Lenox School in NYC. Vit Horejs, actor, will read Seifert’s verse, inspired by the drawings of Czech artist Mikoláš Aleš and first published in 1949.
Music will include Dvořák's "Dumky" Trio and selections from the Slavonic Dances opus 46. ArtsAhimsa artists include Laura Jean Goldberg, violin; Kate Dillingham, cello; Anna Royzman, Moshe Knoll, and Pablo Lavandera piano.
In a DAHA first, choreographer Pedro Ruiz presents a new dance, completing this creative rite of spring. Organized by Laura Jean Goldberg, violinist and DAHA music advisor. Dancers Elisa Toro and Leonel Linares.
General admission: $30; seniors, students: $20. Tickets may be purchased online through Eventbrite or at the door at the time of the event.
Dvořák American Heritage Association follows CDC Covid-19 protocols. Proof of vaccinations with ID and masks are required to attend the concert.
This event is organized by DAHA with support of the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association.
