Culminating the international Year of Czech Music 2024 and the unprecedented Carnegie Hall residency of the Czech Philharmonic under the direction of Maestro Semyon Bychkov, DAHA presented its inaugural Antonín Dvořák Prize.

The award was given in honor of the extraordinary contributions to music of the Czech lands by the orchestra and conductor, who offered three consecutive performances with superstar soloists Yo-Yo Ma, Gil Shaham, and Daniil Trifonov, each program pairing one of Dvořák’s singular concertos with outstanding orchestral masterworks from the Czech repertoire.

Presenting the award on December 5 at Carnegie Hall were DAHA President and Founder Susan Lucak and Michael Beckerman, Carroll and Milton Petrie Chair and Collegiate Professor of Music at New York University, and Vice President of DAHA. Present in the Carnegie Hall audience at the award ceremony was Czech President Petr Pavel.

Recording of the December 3 performance at Carnegie Hall, featuring selections from Smetana’s Má Vlast (My Country) and an encore from Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, is available online.
